Cisco SL Auditorium to Host “Synthetic Environments and the Enterprise" Event

This real world meeting is taking place in Santa Clara, California U.S. on Tuesday, February 20th, however Second Life residents and everyday web visitors will also be able to view the proceedings.  The all-day event will be streamed into Second Life in three locations on the Cisco Systems sims. Tom Malone of MIT and Alpheus Bingham of Innocentive/Eli Lilly will be presenting as avatars in Second Life, rather than at the RL event.

This meeting is a chance to see what business can learn from the rich tapestry of human behavior now playing out in synthetic environments. We will look at initial corporate efforts to meet customers in these worlds and attempts to address the challenge of managing collaborations across large scales of time and geography. We will explore how old models of leadership hold up in these brave new worlds and which of the successful game design principles can be integrated into enterprise workflow today.

If you are in the Santa Clara area, there is no fee to register for this event.  It will be held at the Santa Clara Techmart and runs from 8:00 a.m (PST/SLT) to approximately 5:00 p.m.  The meeting is co-sponsored by Cisco Systems, The Sante Fe Institute and Stanford University Media X.
